Motion from Councillor Ellen Troy: M50 Tolls. AI102268

Meeting: 07/07/2025 - County Council (Item 343)

Councillor E. Troy - M50 Tolls

“That this Council calls on the Government to urgently review the current tolling system on the M50 with a view to introducing a fairer model for workers, including 1. Making M50 toll payments tax-deductible for all workers who rely on the motorway for their daily commute; 2. Introducing a proportional tolling system where payment reflects the actual length of motorway travelled, rather than a flat fee regardless of distance, that this Council further calls on Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the Department of Finance to engage with stakeholders, including worker representatives, to ensure tolling policy reflects economic fairness and does not penalise those who have no alternative but to use the M50 for work purposes.”
