The Mayor informed the Members that they were entitled to use the group voting system for this Committee, as set out in Schedule 10 of the LG Act 2001, as amended, with groups consisting of at least eight members.  The Mayor also informed members that gender balance applied to this committee.

The Mayor called for a three minute recess.

 In accordance with the group voting system a group was formed comprising of Councillors T. Doyle, J. Newman, J. Guerin, DJ Kelly, D. Mulligan, P. Mulville, J. Hopkins, R. Coppinger.  This group put forward the name of Councillor D. Mulligan:

“That Councillor Dean Mulligan be appointed to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.”

It was proposed by Councillor M. McCamley, seconded by Councillor C. Johnston:

“That Councillor John Walsh be appointed to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.”

It was proposed by Councillor T. O’Leary, seconded by Councillor L. Corkery:

“That Councillor Eoghan Dockrell be appointed to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.”

It was proposed by Councillor M. Quinn, seconded by Councillor B. Hanaphy:

“That Councillor Angela Donnelly be appointed to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.”

It was proposed by Councillor E. O’Brien, seconded by Councillor T. Kitt:

“That Councillor Eimear Carbone-Mangan be appointed to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.”

It was proposed by Councillor S. Shovlin, seconded by Councillor T. O’Leary:

“That Councillor Kieran Dennison be appointed to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.”

Following discussions, Councillor Kieran Dennison withdrew his nomination.

The Mayor then DECLARED Councillors Dean Mulligan, John Walsh, Eoghan Dockrell, Angela Donnelly and Eimear Carbone-Mangan be appointed as members to the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education and Training Board.

The attached report by the Chief Executive which had been circulated was CONSIDERED. 

Following discussion and a three minute recess, the Mayor advised that, as agreement could not be reached on nominations that met the gender balance requirement the matter would be deferred to the end of the meeting.
