Add Objective: Self-Sustaining Towns Objectives Table pg 83 – Lusk Community Facility – Ministers Road

That this Council resolves to retain the map based objective in the current development plan regarding the provision of a community facility with a minimum size of 300m2 set out under Objective 11 for Lusk in the current Development Plan 2017 – 2023, the underlined in Figure 2.

A number of objectives were set out in the Lusk Local Area Plan 2009 pertaining to the provision of a community facility with a minimum size of 300m2 being provided on the site in the upper right triangle of area R on Figure 1 attached. This was retained in the Development Plan 2011-2017 and the current Development Plan 2017-2023, Figure 2 attached.

With the population of Lusk town increasing by 217% between census 2002-2016 there is need from clubs and organisations (Mens Shed, Pipe Band, Judo Club etc) in the town to have communal facilities to run their organisations. With an SHD application currently pending on area Q of Figure 1, this objective provides a great opportunity to provide these facilities as set out in Objective 11 to ensure that the community facility is provided in tandem with the phased residential development. After retaining the objective for 15 years, now is not the time to remove it from the Development Plan.
