“That this Council notes the failure of the Department of Education to engage in effective longer-term planning for the construction of new schools and expansion of existing schools in Fingal and calls on the Department to engage with local public representatives, school patrons and local communities to ensure proper planning of school infrastructure in line with demographic trends.”

During the course of the meeting, an amended motion was received from Cllr. J. Walsh.

Delete from ‘notes’ to ‘and’ and add ‘of Education’ after Department: 

Amended Motion to read: 

“That this Council calls on the Department of Education to engage with local public representatives, school patrons and local communities to ensure proper planning of school infrastructure in line with demographic trends.” 

The motion, in the name of Councillor J. Walsh was proposed by Councillor J. Walsh and seconded by Councillor M. McCamley.

Following discussion, the motion, as amended, was AGREED.
